Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

I do not remember the source, but someone once said that “Christ is our eternal contemporary!” He is always in vogue and current as the remedy to the most current issues facing life. It is amazing to know that the same Person with the same word can address the most unusual situations. While many things are erupting from unexpected places, the solution resides in the Eternal One. Yet we are obligated to seek Him with humble hearts in order to discover the answers that await us.  “Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more” (Romans 5:20). His grace anticipates the modes and movements within society at whatever age they may occur. None of these things were able to take God by surprise as things have changed and are constantly changing. God’s perfect world, where He pronounced His goodness upon it, was corroded when the innocent blood of Cain was absorbed into it. 

Now many generations later, the sin of humanity has caused further erosion upon and within the crust of the earth. Sin is an intrusive force that corrupts everything in its path, and when the creative Word of God is reinterpreted, ignored, or trampled upon, negative changes occur to disrupt His creative order. Unfortunately, one of the results of the Fall in the Garden of Eden was the corruption of the minds of Adam and Eve. Even this present generation is left with creative but corrupted minds. Innovations like Artificial Intelligence (AI), space exploration, areas of art, education, and sciences have catapulted to a level beyond any other generation in recorded history. However, because of their affluence, there are many people that have rejected or denied God completely. 

  God was in the middle of change as He provided the antidote to man’s dilemma in the Garden of Eden. It was blood for blood—the Blood of His Son in exchange for the self- deprecating blood and suicidal blood of murdering one’s own brother. Each act of sin is an act of rebellion against God and every act of rebellion against God is a self-inflicted wound against one’s own soul. Jesus Christ came to redeem mankind from the penalty and judgment that comes from God against sin, and tendencies of self-annihilation. 

There are many movements today orchestrated by well-meaning groups of people with the intent to address the offenses in history against people-groups and society as a whole. The cry for justice is growing louder as many become more aware of the atrocities measured against fellow human beings with the same magnitude of Cain who slayed his brother Abel. Throughout history, human life has been minimized among the ignorant who unknowingly lose their own dignity and cheapen themselves in the process. Yet amid all the stirrings, the Lord is prompting hearts to seek after Him in revival. He alone is able to set the record straight and change hearts in a new direction. He alone is able to restore and compensate for the years destroyed through slavery, by Jim Crow laws, and all forms of racial discrimination that exist, even to this present hour. Let us pray for revival among the churches first for cultural stability, and then by the church, may all come to the realization that without Christ we can do nothing. But with Christ, we can do all things as we receive the strength that He alone provides.
