Meditation: September 19

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights.” James 1:17

The words “good” and “perfect” are given deeper meanings when God is speaking. He does not restrict Himself to our definitions of these terms. There is a goodness that transcends all efforts on our part and remains good even when what man is able to produce turns sour and withers away. The reason that God’s goodness is so special is because it is perfect goodness. There is no separation between the good and the perfect gift of God. The gift is good because it is perfect and it is perfect because it is good. He then sends it to us from His holy habitation. It comes from the Throne of God where He rules and reigns without the slightest hint of sin and confusion. Heaven is a perfect place, therefore perfect gifts can come from there. The gift reaches us with His signature on it. Not only does He sign it, but He remains attached to His gift. Not that the gift has not been given to us but as a man’s gift makes room for him, God’s gifts cannot be received without Him being attached to it. If the gift is to remain good and perfect the One that is both good and perfect must be constantly engaged in its use. If we manage what He has given us without Him, we corrupt it and it is misdirected towards some evil means. He extends Himself to us and to the world through giving us what is of Him and in Him. As we receive the gifts of God, may our hearts be open to all that He is and has for us.

Meditation: June 25

“When the proper time has come [for executing My judgments], I will judge uprightly [says the Lord].” Psalms 75:2 (AMP)

Things are allowed to run their course until God steps in and established His proper order. The free range field in which the heart is permitted to run allows each the chance to choose whichever course is suitable to him. We explore the mountainous heights of dreams and aspirations of grandeur and become kings of our own castles. We visit make-believe worlds of fantasy as children playing roles of both villain and saint. Then the time comes to grow up. We are expected to shoulder the responsibility expected of sons of the Most High. But for some, life remains a fantasyland and the exploration of self-interest has so enraptured the heart to prevent it from receiving the stabilizing truth which will take us even beyond the limits of our own imaginations. God judges the heart in the proper time. He alone distinguishes the difference between what is twisted and what is straight. He reveals His standard to the wayward and pronounces death to all that does measure up to it. Everything that brings Him glory is for our good. We are being prepared for our future state of ruling and reigning with Him. He takes away the distracting influences that deflect our attention away from what He knows is righteous and good and establishes in its place true holiness.

Meditation: March 23

“Now I will rise,” says the Lord; “Now I will be exalted, Now I will lift Myself up.” Isaiah 33:10

God rises above the heights of the loftiest mountains. He rises above the ingenuity of the wisest men on the face of the earth. Many who have settled for a level of truth based upon what can enter into the minds of men. But when He is exalted, no thought could ever be stretched to dimensions known only to Him. His judgments provide proof that we are wrong in our assessments of life and things excluding Him yet deemed to be important. He exposes the frailty of everything that did not originate from Him and remain attached to Him. God was awaiting the right moment in time, when unbelief had reached its peak among the doubters and skeptics. While those who believed on Him anticipated His return, eagerly longing for His rule and reign to be established among men on earth. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Meditation: December 26

“Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against 35 (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” Luke 2:34- 35

Births are produced out of pain. The agony of a mother in labor will eventually end at the bringing forth of her newborn child. God had sent forth His Son into a hostile world to rule and reign over it. But those who would subject themselves to His reign had to be born into His kingdom. All others would challenge and work at undermining His authority. His coming on the world scene would produce promotion among those to whom God willed to promote, but the demotion of any whose reign God arbitrarily decided to bring to an end. What had been introduced through the law and the prophets was now personified and fulfilled in one person. None could remain neutral to. His presence. Jesus would either bring the best out of them or the worst out of them. When confronted with Jesus, whatever resides within the hearts of individuals is brought to the surface. And those who fully identify will suffer with Him as partakers of what would be measured against Him even to this day. If we are willing to go into labor with Him for souls, we too will experience new births, but an earnest desire for genuine conversions will come with a price.

Behold, The Kingdom of God

As each year ends, I prayerfully seek the Lord for a theme for the New Year. The New Year provides new opportunities for us. Whatever happened previously has now been registered as history. The record of the past is now complete; yet the future awaits us as a blank page to be written upon. Next year, the reflections will involve the decisions that we are presently making. Our daily decisions will determine whether there will be victories to celebrate or defeats to lament. I believe that our focus will determine our outcome.

We can look around and see the devastation of a failed economy, the moral collapse of this generation, spiritual and political compromises that violate the Constitution and our creeds. It signals to those who are attempting to hold things together that the standard must come from a higher and a different Source. Jesus proclaimed as His inaugural address that the “Kingdom is near.”

Each message heard provides an opportunity. Think about the opportunities that have now translated into regrets. If we had the power to turn the clock backwards to that exact period when the chance for change was provided, I am certain that none would reject cashing in on it. The Kingdom of God is near. It can be seized by those who are aware of its value. All would benefit from what it provides. None would be rejected. It is close because the message of the Kingdom paves the way for those who desire to enter in. It does not come by observation. It is not a physical kingdom as many would believe. The Kingdom has come when Jesus rules and reigns in your heart. It is when an admission is made that whatever and whoever ruled beforehand was insufficient to complete your life. The fragmented existence left a void within that nothing else could fill. The Word of the Kingdom is God’s invitation to everyone.

The entire year of 2010 will be dedicated to helping people to understand what the Kingdom of God is and what it is not. I trust that many myths and ill-advised counsel will be exposed. There are too many people who have a false sense of security with a shallow understanding of God and His rule over the affairs of mankind, and with all of His creation. While the world is announcing, “Peace, Peace”, sudden destruction has come and is yet coming. It is the anticipation of the Kingdom and the desire to see His rule established that will constitute the quality of peace that can survive the temporal peace that ends in chaos. Jesus taught us in His model prayer to pray, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” The Kingdom is close to you. It is high time to get an understanding of God’s agenda that each may be fully engaged in participating in what He is doing.
