Meditation: June 30

“And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.” Mark 11:23

Jesus expected figs out of season as He approached a tree bearing leaves. The closer we are to Him, time no longer the measure for seasons of change. His Presence is sufficient to cause flowers to blossom and fruit to be borne. Seasons are a means of measuring natural things. The almanac records planetary alignments and climate changes. The time for planting is different from the time of reaping. Then what grows must mature before it is ripe for harvest. Yet Jesus expected fruit to be produced before harvest time. Since nothing but leaves were there He cursed it so that nothing would ever grow in it again. The lesson was for His followers. There is a moment in time allotted to us by God that must be seized. It not, the heart is hardened and mind is fixed to remain as it was. He says to us, seize the moment while the Word and Spirit combined brings in a new day. God awaits the opportunity to show Himself strong on our behalf. The fruit of our lives is there to serve the world and in particular, this present age, If we do not bear fruit we will be condemned to never bear any. We are to bear much fruit and our fruit is to remain.

Meditation: March 28

“And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”  Daniel 2:21

These times are different from any other. There was a time when people both thought and acted differently. The environment has an effect upon the times. The mood is set by the atmosphere. God orders it in response to prayer on the part of His people. During the times of peace and prosperity, the people are at ease. But when trouble comes, there is an unsettling among them. God examines and tries the heart of every person. Rebellion is not the result of the times, but rather the times are the result of man’s rebellion. He changes the times to reflect the attitude on earth expressed towards Him. But when we pray and seek Him with our whole hearts, a new season of revival will begin. He will give us leaders who are after His own heart when our hearts are directed towards Him. Otherwise, those who will lead will reflect the attitude of the people they are leading. Yes God changes both times and seasons, but His attention is set upon His people to seek Him for a time of the healing of the land and wholeness among the peoples of the earth.

Meditation: March 17

“You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance.” Psalm 65:11

Whatever happens and however it may happen, God ends with the placement of His crown of goodness. That is why He is called good even when things happen that are difficult to explain. When there are valleys there also must be mountains. The deeper the valley indicates the higher the mountain must be. Valley experiences are not always fatal. They can be but not necessarily must be fatal. His path is frightening to the fainthearted. Every wall in the valley contains a message that you have reached the point of no return. But as long as you are aware that He is leading you, you can trust Him throughout the journey. A crown awaits you at the end of the season of testing. Not only is there a crown, but there are rich blessings to be gathered along the way.

Meditation: March 5

“But from this day I will bless you.” Haggai 2:19

Forward looking or the outlook is much brighter than the past for the children of the Most High God. Even though many of the things promised have not yet come to past, God is still true to every one of them. The seed is still in the barn. The seed that is to be planted must be scattered before the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, the olives tree is able to yield its fruit. The laborers must sow in the time of sowing before the reapers can come and reap in the harvest. There is a future ahead of us that only God is able to bring to past. Yet each of us must diligently work in the season that is to be rightly occupied by those who are fully aware of times and seasons. While we may be waiting on God, God is waiting on us!

Meditation: August 21

“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:” Ecclesiastes 3:1

Time is different from seasons and seasons are not the same as time. Contained within each season is the designated time to accomplish all assignments, but when one is unaware of the season, they waste the opportunities granted. Each is gifts from God our Maker. There are low seasons when the ebb tide is low without sufficient refreshing rain to water the fields. The harvest passes without produce because of conditions which are beyond our control. Then there are times when the ebb tide is high. The waters are plentiful, the fields are watered, but there are no laborers to first plant and then gather in the harvest. Whether it be low season or high season, the preparation for participating in the work must be the same. Paul told his son Timothy to “preach the Word. Be ready in season and out of season.” There is time for every purpose under heaven and there is a purpose for every season which contains sufficient time to prepare for what God is about to do. It is our privilege and responsibility to redeem the time, to take full advantage of each moment not as down time but as valuable and sufficient for fulfilling that part which at that moment ought to be exercised.

Meditation: July 4

“The diligent find freedom in their work; the lazy are oppressed by work.” Proverbs 12:24 (MSG)

There is a freedom that allows us to fully cooperate with God in what He is doing. There is a bondage that can hold one back so that they are never able to accomplish or complete anything. It is the mental bondage of procrastination. It is when one thinks too intensely one the amount of work ahead rather than applying the effort necessary to take steps in completing it. The Holy Spirit will assist us but not force us to do anything. He awaits the decision on our part to move in the right direction. Then He supplies the energy and power for us to gain the impetus to continue moving forward. We have been graced to make a difference. Things we not intended to remain as they are. That is why God has allowed us to be born in this generation. What our forefathers completed was foundational for the task lying ahead of us. We must not allow the oppression of laziness to cripple our progress. Speak the truth even when nobody’s listening! Live the life and be the person God has called you to be even when it is not popular! Be steadfast in season and out of season. God will reward diligence because He pays attention to every effort made by those who strain to move in His direction.

Things Don’t Just Happen

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven” (Eccl 3:1) But have you considered the truth that there is a purpose within times and seasons? Every occurrence is purposeful and not accidental nor is it coincidental.  The reason for the purpose of occurrences remains as the secret things of God. They are hidden in Jesus Christ and only those who are in pursuit of knowing Him will ever come to know the purpose for life and all that comprise of it. This may appear to be strange language to an individual who has never considered God as all knowing and all powerful. They are often too busy trying to discover the purpose for life in the things around them or the things that they are able to do. There remains a deep longing within the hearts of those who seek satisfaction through things and the pursuit of knowledge. They often will misinterpret the constant longing for more of the same until their pursuit and purpose becomes an endless circle. John on the Isle of Patmos received this revelation of Jesus Christ:

You are worthy, O Lord,

To receive glory and honor and power;

For You created all things,

And by Your will they exist and were created.” (Rev 4:11)

It took his being banished on to the isles of Patmos. It required the sacrifice of his freedom and the luxuries of life. It took the rejection of friends and family in order to bring him to a place of seeing Jesus as worthy to receive all honor and glory! Not only is He worthy to receive the honor and glory that is due His Name, but He is acknowledged as the Creator of all things. Not only is He the Creator of all things. They exist for a reason. All things exist by Your will and for Your glory! This is a highly significant truth that must be established within our hearts. All events lead to this conclusion. One may struggle with it, fight against it, or outright reject it; but the truth remains, none can ever come to know their purpose in life without the revelation that their purpose is hidden in Christ. Therefore, all things must be managed with the intent to glorify the Creator.

The earth rebels against misuse of resources. Hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, and all natural disasters have their origin in man’s rebellion against God. Sicknesses, diseases, and infirmities, pandemics, and epidemics, are the result of the same. It is not merely our personal struggle, but the climate or times and seasons are the result of decisions made on the part of people. The bible refers to Satan as being “the god of this age.” He rules over people in order for them to set trends and introduce waves of rebellion that defines our age. How can such things that are clearly condemned in the bible now be widely accepted even among many who say that they are Christians? It is because they slowly evolved into a mindset that contradicts God’s Word. Even though all will experience the effects of this present age, God will save those who understand that all thing exist and were created by and for God’s will. My prayer is for those who represent God’s standard to return to the authentic. Do not allow the demands of worldliness to force you into a compromise.  Too much is at stake for this.
